Listen Before Your Body Has to Shout

The body often begins with a whisper: a tight shoulder, shallow breathing, restless sleep or the feeling that you have had enough.

Bodies are excellent messengers, but many of us have been trained to wait for a dramatic announcement. We push through thirst, tension, fatigue and overstimulation until the whisper becomes impossible to ignore.

Listening earlier does not mean treating every sensation as an emergency. It means becoming curious. Have you eaten? Have you moved? Are you bracing while reading your email? Do you need quiet, fresh air, warmth, support or simply a different position?

The answer may be wonderfully ordinary. A glass of water, a short walk, a boundary or ten minutes without a screen can be meaningful care when it responds to what is actually happening.
