Having a Life Mission Statement will keep you on track. It should be done at least once in your life so that you can get clear on what's most important to you. You'll always have it to fall back on time and time again when you are faced with decisions of all kinds.
Think about it, if you have to make a big decision but you are not clear on your values, you can easily get swayed, maybe even follow someone else's values. It's confusing and draining.
A good way to prepare for that and to have your own back is through this process.
Even if you think you truly know who you are and have your values straight, you may be surprised at what comes up in this process, or if somethings may have changed.
Life Mission Statements are meant to be changed as we change and evolve all the time. So if you ever come up with a new insight into your life you can just tweak your Mission Statement as it grows with you.
Make a list of your most important virtues. What is most important to you and your beliefs? What do you want to bring out to bring out to the world? What type of Legacy do you want to leave behind? These are all very good to ponder. They get us clear and strong on our path.
Take your top three values, the most important values your uphold and turn them into a sentence that becomes your Mission Statement.
If you could be your own perfect person, what would that look like? Trust that you are worthy and write away.
After you have your list, just narrow it down to your top 3. Then place them into a sentence that expresses who you are.
Here is a template to use:
My Life Mission is to be _____________________, _______________________, and
___________________________ in every decision I make. Everyday I achieve this in any way I can (with Joy & Love) and I never waiver. This is my highest Statement: ______________________________ (Then sign your name above.)
*If you used the word Honesty, you change it to Honest, and so on for the sentence.
My Life Mission is to be Honest, Compassionate and of High Integrity in every decision I make. Everyday I achieve this in any way I can and I never waiver. This is my highest Statement: ___My Name____
You carry this with you, tape it to your mirror and memorize it, so when the next person or situation that comes along where you have to make a decision, you will have this as your sincerest guide.
*There are many forms of a Mission Statement. You can make it a couple of sentences that are a bit more robust. Look some up online for more variety and play around with what works for you.
